Shipping Manager

The Shipping manager will manage the shipping/freezer/warehouse department team at Swaggerty’s Sausage. The selected candidate will drive to provide great customer service while overcoming new challenges daily in this fast-paced shipping environment.

The shipping manager is responsible for supervising the shipping/receiving functions of all outgoing/incoming products from the freezer warehouse. Controls activities of company warehouse personnel. Proper supervision of assigned Supervisors and employees is an extremely important function for the company, positive interaction with the employees is critical as this ensures getting work out on time, efficiently, and accurately.

Ensures shipping, receiving, storage, and distribution are performed in an efficient manner. Takes precautions to protect warehouse contents against loss. Retains and reviews warehouse documents and warehouse contents against loss. Retains and reviews warehouse documents and reports.

Conducts freezer warehouse operations in accordance with established procedures and policies and keeps management informed of Warehouse activities. Completes miscellaneous support functions and supports area personnel as required.

1. Provide general administrative and clerical support including mailing, scanning, faxing, and copying to management.

2. Provides direction and proper motivation to supervisors, leads, and employees to ensure the daily workload is completed in an efficient and cost-effective manner.

5. Completes appropriate paperwork and reports as required.

6. Perform data entry and scan documents.

7. Answer calls from customers regarding pick-ups.

10. Be knowledgeable of all emergency procedures and regulations regarding fire and other potential emergencies.

11. Perform duties in accordance with BRC and Safety policies and procedures, as appropriate for the location.

SUPERVISOR RESPONSIBILITY

This position has supervisory responsibilities.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. Some of the work will be performed in manufacturing facilities where the noise level may be loud. The employee is frequently exposed to cold conditions ranging below -20 degrees freezer suits required. This job requires the use of PPE that includes slip-resistant boots, gloves, bibs, jacket that are rated for freezer. In some area’s the noise level in the freezer can be loud (not exceeded 85 db.)

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands, handle and/or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and ability to adjust focus.

POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK

This is a full-time salaried position with an average of 50 hours a week. Some Saturdays are required.

TRAVEL

No travel is expected for this position.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION

  • Experience as a Shipping Manager. Preferred three years or greater at that level.
  • Minimum of a high school education, experienced forklift operator and warehouse supervision experience.
  • Ability to read and write English, follow verbal instructions and use simple math.
  • A valid driver’s license and a good driving record.

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Extensive forklift and warehouse experience.
  • Prior Shipping foreman/leadership position.
