Food Safety Manager / Animal Welfare Specialist

Due to increased growth of plant size and clientele, there has become a need for more qualified, reliable personnel to insure the quality of this food processing facility. Swaggerty Sausage Company Incorporated has been producing premium pork sausage for over 85 years and has built a reputation people can trust for a safe, wholesome product. Therefore, it is imperative that the quality of the product is the best that it can be. The manager will ensure that all tasks are assigned and completed by his/her crew. This includes managing and checking for quality issues. Supervisor works independently as well as with multiple groups. 
 
Job Description: 
 
  • Manage Quality Control personnel and responsibilities  
  • Track production from receiving of raw products to shipping of final product to insure traceability and applicability to quality.
  • Assist the QC Director to maintain HACCP, SSOP, GMP, Food Safety, and Quality Plans and coordinate any changes.
  • Address USDA issues concerning quality and questionable product soundness to include maintaining “E. coli” sampling records. 
  • Address non-compliance records and coordinate product hold products to final placement.  
  • Submit label approvals and maintain label integrity on all packaging.
  • Assist with new product development research and testing to implement technological advancements as they are available to aid in the growth of the business.  
  • Coordinate continual food safety training for all employees.
  • Coordinate GFSI Audits and assist in plant preparations.
  • Maintain and improve animal handling program to ensure all requirements are being met.
 
Qualifications:
 
  • Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Biology, Microbiology, or related field. 
  • Project management skills - capable of working on and managing multiple high priority projects.
  • Technical knowledge of food safety, food science, and regulatory requirements.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of process control methods and application of preventative practices.
  • Minimum of 2-5 years of experience in Food Safety Management preferred with experience supervising staff.
  • Previous experience working or overseeing a food micro-lab.

Foodservice Regional Sales Director

 
Job Description:
 
Excellent opportunity for a talented, self-driven regional Foodservice sales representative to join a leading pork sausage manufacturer that provides, quite possibly, the best tasting sausage in America. This is a remote/telecommuting role and will be responsible for driving sales within a defined territory. The ideal candidate will have previous Foodservice sales experience within the perishables industry calling on broadline distributors such as Sysco, US Foods, PFG, Ben E Keith, Reinhart and their OPCO's as well as independent distributors. Broker management experience required. 
 
Responsibilities:
 
  • Align the sales organization with the company’s vision, mission statement and core values. 
  • Responsible for acquiring new business within the defined territory (Midwest, Southeast, Southwest, Eastern regions).
  • Achieve monthly/quarterly/yearly territory objectives and targets.
  • Meet with key customers and potential customers on a regular basis. Achieve desired average gross margin for territory.
  • Review and monitor accounts receivable aging reports to minimize outstanding balance.
  • Recommend and convert customers with low margin products to higher margin alternative products.
  • Implement corporate marketing strategy for territory such as new applications, target customers, trade shows, etc. 
  • Manage key customer relationships and participate in closing strategic opportunities when necessary
  • Collect information regarding competitive products.
  • Manage broker network within the territory.
 
Requirements: 
 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Business Administration, Marketing preferred. 
  • 5-10 years of Foodservice sales experience.
  • Must understand the dynamics of the food business and how accounts are positioned in the foodservice channel.
  • Understanding of product cuttings – comfort and knowledge of product attributes.
  • Must have a solid understanding of customer focused and fact based selling skills.
  • High level of written and verbal communication skills, organizational planning, teamwork, analytical reasoning, and adaptability.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem solving skills.
  • Must reside near a major airport. 
  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training brokers; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; addressing complaints and assisting in providing appropriate resolutions.
  • Travel will be approximately 50 to 75%.

Maintenance Technician
